WELCOME!
Getting to Martha’s Vineyard:
The Island is reached by a 40-minute ferry ride from Woods Hole, MA. The ferries run regularly to either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven, both of which are convenient by bike/foot to the house. Cab vans are also readily available on the island at the dock and can accommodate bicycles. Ferry tickets for cars should be reserved from the Steamship Authority well in advance if you are planning to travel on the week-end. They can be reached at (508) 477-8600. There is no need for reservations for walk-on passengers. Travel to Woods Hole generally takes less than 2 hours from Boston by car but do plan for traffic in peak months. The Steamship Authority provides several parking lots in Woods Hole. Peter Pan Bus line also runs almost hourly from South Station directly to the ferry terminal.
Directions to 5 Winemack Ave. Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, MA.
From Vineyard Haven Ferry Terminal
Take left out of ferry terminal parking lot. At first intersection (called Five Corners because five roads intersect) take wide left following signs to Oak Bluffs. You are now on Beach Road/New York Ave. and all sorts of other names depending on where you are. Just know that it is the main road between Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. You want to stay on this for 1.5 miles - as you do you will go over the bridge where the harbor and lagoon meet, then you’ll come to a split where you want to stay left and continue on the main road, then you’ll pass the police station, then you’ll hit another sharp right curve. Just after this curve you’ll want to take the second right onto
Winemack. There is a fire hydrant just before the turn. (If you’ve passed a little yellow cottage with green shutters and lots of flowers, you’ve just gone past it.) Continue to almost the bottom of the road. We are the second house from the last on the left side. It’s a grey saltbox with a green sun at the eave.
From Oak Bluffs Ferry Terminal
Go straight out of the ferry dock and continue straight up New York Ave. for one mile. As you do, you will pass stores, restaurants, and a gas station, then Oak Bluffs harbor then Our Market on the right, further on you’ll pass a Texaco on the right, then Dick’s Bait Shop and an Antique Store on the left. Not far beyond the antique store you’ll see a ‘Do Not Pass’ sign on the right. Winemack Ave. is just before it. There’s a yellow cottage with green shutters and lots of flowers on the near corner of Winemack. Take a left onto Winemack. Continue to almost the bottom of the road. We are the second house from the last on the left side. It’s a grey saltbox with a green sun at the eave.
